A small, advertising-funded site that explains consumer security software in ordinary language, and is explicit about the fact that it earns a commission when readers buy.
What we publish
Explainers. We take a product or a topic that is widely advertised and poorly explained — what an antivirus tier actually contains, how detection works, what a phishing message looks like — and set it out clearly enough that a reader can make their own decision. We are aiming at the person who has seen an advertisement, does not know whether it applies to them, and would like twenty minutes of honest explanation before spending money.
We are not a review site. We do not score products, rank them or hand out awards, because we do not run laboratory tests and we think a rating we have not earned is worse than no rating at all. Where measured results exist, we send readers to the laboratories that produced them.

How we are paid, stated up front
By affiliate commission, and by nothing else. When a reader follows a link marked “partner link” and buys, the retailer pays us a percentage; the reader pays the ordinary price. The complete arrangement, and what it does not buy, is on the affiliate disclosure page.
We think the honest way to run a site like this is to say that on every page rather than bury it, and then to write as though the reader knows it — because they do.
Three commitments
We collect nothing
No cookies, no analytics, no advertising pixel, no browser storage, no third-party requests. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. The cookie policy shows you how to check that claim yourself in about two minutes, and we would rather you did.
We do not manufacture credibility
No invented reader stories, no testimonials, no star ratings, no countdown timers, no fake scarcity, no guaranteed-result claims. The full list of what we refuse to do is in the editorial policy, written down so it can be held against us.
Everything you see here was made here
Every diagram and illustration on this site is an original SVG file drawn for the article it appears in. There are no product screenshots, no brand logos and no stock photographs anywhere on the site — partly because using someone else’s imagery on an ad-funded page is a trademark problem, and partly because a diagram built for the point being made explains it better than a photograph of a laptop.
What we are not
We are not a shop, a reseller or a support service, and no contract for software is concluded with us. We are not a security laboratory or a certifying body. Norton, Norton AntiVirus, Norton 360 and LifeLock are trademarks of their respective owners. This website is independent: it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or otherwise connected to Gen Digital Inc., NortonLifeLock or any of their group companies. Trademarks are used here only to identify the product being discussed.
